A driving game that absorbs you

Well rev rev rooooooom,

Picked this beauty up and tried it out on a panasonic viera in 3D, all i can say about the initial response from me was that my mouth was open and nothing but my thumbs moving could be heard.

GRID 2 tingles the taste buds that Gran Turismo did back in the days when all we had was outrun to enjoy, as a game it's simply ok, it doesn't try too hard to be a new thing, it takes a lot of it's inspiration from the Dirt series and then tries to add to it. As far as graphics are concerned it's top notch, right down to the tyre marks, audio is right up there as well with thumping beats and spot on car engine sounds which kind of sound authentic.

The gameplay, ahhhh the gameplay, this is where it plays on it's own, it's a little twitchy at first, maybe a steering wheel would be nice, but for the normal user who owns a 360 pad, it's quite twitchy, but never the less, making a nice drift around a large corner and overtaking at the same time never felt so good.

The career mode is mundane at best, I found it quite boring at times and the load times even on SSD were relatively long, however the car's are spot on and do make for a refreshing change as you level up through the game.

But the one and defining thing about GRID in general is it's multiplayer, and on GRID 2 it is simply awesome, the hours will literally entwine into one once your on a roll and you've found your niche on the apex's, your first win will seal the deal between going to make a cup of tea and you needing a shave, only thing I didn't like was the always on mic and lack of kick support, ce la vie.

Overall GRID 2 is a stellar driving game with a solid career (if a bit boring) stupendous graphics, a pumping sound track and the best multi player i've ever seen from a driving game.

Thumbs up from me, just remember to avoid people on multiplayer, it will make you angry to the point you want to kill someone.
