If it weren't for the multiplayer, this game would be completely worthless.

User Rating: 6.9 | Greg Hastings' Tournament Paintball Max'd XBOX
Last year, Greg Hasting's Tournament Paintball marked its debut on the xbox console. Many hardcore paintballers were really excited about it releasing, hyped it up, and just got really pumped. I found over this year that very few paintballers enjoyed this one, and none of these people included me.

Gameplay, surprisingly, is very slow-paced. The fields are somewhat large and in some cases, it will take you a long time to even find any opponents to shoot at. And even when you get the chance to, it's not really entertaining or exciting at all. The enemy AI is very poor, so you'll find most levels to be pretty easy, just as long as you can eventually find the opponents. For the most part though, you'll be shooting at random objects in the field, trying to "pin down" the opponents. This causes a lot of trial and error sequences which can make you lose a lot of ammo really fast. Also, since the sound isn't anything to write home about, most players will find the the core gameplay if Tournament Paintball to be pretty bland.

Graphics in Tournament Paintball are pretty lackluster as well. Gun models are very muddy, and so are the players. Paintball fields aren't anything exciting to look at or explore, because they're all just muddy textures and pixels of inflatable obstacles. Nothing to much to be seen here at all.

Like I mentioned before, the sound is pretty boring. There's never really a crowd watching you, so matches will be totally silent throughout. Your character mutters a few things here and there, but they sound horribly lame. The sounds that come from the actual weapons are weak as well. You hear a tiny little *put* sound and that's really about all. I mean, you'd think they'd make it a little more exciting than that, but apparently not.

For xbox live users, the game, thankfully, includes 14 player multiplayer online. This can get a lot more exciting than the single player, because you actually have many people talking at once, and you're playing humans, which obviously means much smarter and more challenging enemy AI. And not only does it include the maps from the single player (which mostly sucks), but the game now includes a map editor, allowing you to create maps and share them online and play. This is a whole lot better than playin the default maps, because you have full customization abilities and the possibilities go on and on and on. If you were to play this online, I suggest creating a few maps first.

Overall, I found this game to be just like the first. Mostly bland, but the xbox live does help it out a little. If it weren't for the xbox live compatibilities, this game would be completely worthless. Thankfully, this isn't the case.
