Grandia Xtreme

If you're expecting a character driven story, stay away!

Grandia Xtreme isn't the worst game I've played, but it's in my bottom 10. The characters are very annoying and sometimes irritate me to the point where I have to turn down the volume. The story is also pretty bad (and short).

A lot of time is spent in this game dungeon crawling rather than advancing plot. The dungeon I finally gave up on is one of the final dungeons, that consists of fifty or so levels that are all basically the same. (like optional dungeons are in other games) And when you get to the bottom of that dungeon, you get treated to the actual final dungeon.

The only saving grace this game has is the trademark Grandia battle system. I LOVE this battle system. However, since it's present in every other Grandia title, I'd rather just pop in Grandia 2 or 3.

  Grandia Xtreme, despite its poor presentation and bare-bones storyline, may be worth playing for the combat alone.
