Really good game, but at the same time has some flaws

User Rating: 8 | Grandia III PS2
Grandia III is a very interesting game. I have never played a game with a such a battle system as this. It is cleverly done and has you use strategy rather than just command people and hope for the best. The only problem though is at first you start doing cool combos and different techniques, but as you go along father into the game you start relying on magic more and more. THe storyline is somewhat ok. At first its has a lot of comedy which makes you like it and think that this will be what the whole game is like. But about 1/4 of the way it turns into more serious note and basically has no humor. Another flaw is that the maps are all linear. You will know where the chests are, you will know which way to go. It just kinda gets boring after going through 3-4 maps. The enemies are really annoying along the way. I find in some cases that I have more tie struggling with them rather than the boss that waits at the end of the dungeon (except mother breed *shudders*). Luckily you can skip the enemies and still beat the boss in some cases. A positive to the maps is that they are incredible. Each scene is beautifully done and go with whatever area you are around. Even the characters look good throughout the whole game. The music isn't too bad, its more of a pop kinda. But all in all this is a real good game that can be used to kill time and/or boredom. Definitly worth playing
