Grand Theft Auto IV
Review

Visually, the game is stunning. From the amazing skyline to all the details at street level, Liberty City hits you head on with realistic bridges, subways, construction, and landmarks. You truly feel like a visitor to LC. The story is wonderfully told and is held together by a host of incredible characters.
Niko Bellic arrives in Liberty City where his cousin Roman has been living for the last 10 years. Niko is looking for someone but the reason why is not revealed until later in the game. Hints of why Niko is in LC are dropped throughout the game during certain missions and conversations. This is done well enough to keep the suspense lurking in the background while you are trying to survive all the crooked dealings and people in LC.
Niko picks up jobs here and there, usually as a hit man or some other nefarious position. Through these various contacts, Niko finally meets someone who can help him locate the man that betrayed him years ago during the "war".
Not all is so hardcore in LC. Once Niko makes friends who like him enough, fun activities can be planned with them such as playing pool, darts, eating and more. These friends can also help Niko if he's in a jam. Guns can be bought at a discount, and car service among other favors. Niko also gets to go on dates. Driving around in Liberty City is best enjoyed when cruising to the latest tunes or news on the car radio.
Niko can also play visual ante after he steals a cop car. He can locate most wanted and crimes in progress on the car computer and help the cops rid LC of miscreants by doing what he does best.
The cover system is good and targeting enemies with a good variety of weapons stand up quite well. However, when Niko finds himself in a battle with his fists, the fighting is kind of sloppy and you have to really judge the distance of your punches. Not a big deal but the fighting does frustrate you a bit.
All in all GTA IV is as close to a perfect game that I've played and played again and again. You should definitely add this one to your collection.
