The game is incomplete, yet still delivers a mind blowing racing experience

I am a GT fan, why? because GT always takes itself seriously in a way that shows you the enthusiasm of the developers and their ambition in making the game. I've played GT3 and GT4, and somehow they manage make any other racing game on the PS2 look like a joke, because they set the QUALITY standard on the console. I believe that is what makes it special regardless of the driving physics which also are at the limit of what the console could deliver at the time, speaking of which, I would like to make a point... I have noticed that Japanese game developers make games out of hardware limitations, there vision is usually bigger than what the console can deliver and therefore the result is something that is tailored to the console's capabilities. The questions is... have they done this with GT5? The answer (in my opinion) is sadly no. Or not yet, GT5 is an incomplete game in many ways, I cannot complain about the graphics, that would be absurd, but I think the biggest issue is the cars in game They have divided the 1000+ cars into premium and standard cars (which vastly outnumber the premium) which are too different graphically to be together in the same game, the standard cars are look like PS2 cars and the premium look like PS4 cars!
I didn't feel the same level of enthusiasm from the developers as when I played GT4, that is probably why GT fans believed the hype because the developers made you believe they could do incredible things no one has done before, I noticed this from the cars they selected, the tracks and the events. The events are divided into A-spec and B-spec, the thing is they are the same events!! The only difference is that either you drive or an (initially) incredibly frustrating AI drives in a longer version of the race. Another let down is that the licenses are now optional, making them almost irrelevant. The level system is a good addition making the player gradually experience more challenging events and drive faster cars. The online mode will take some getting used to I recommend that you are at least level 10 before you try it.
I just felt they wanted to deliver something more and they just didn't have the time or resources, maybe they didn't think it was right to make people wait more. This game has a bigger vision than forza3 and A LOT more potential, if you are a GT fan, this game is a must have, if you're not you'll be disappointed.
