A great driving game

I have a ps2 since last July, and one of the games I bought was Gran Turismo 4. I've read the reviews on Gamespot and other sites, listened to some friends' suggestions, and did it.

The game is amazing. A great variety of tracks, and the game modes are simple, but effective enough. The arcade mode lets you race at any track available, with any car available, from the old 40's beetle to some Japanese GT. The AI selects your opposition according to the difficult level you set. And the Gran Turismo mode is the real thing. You start with zero cash, an used (normally Japanese) car, and must obtain licenses and win races to advance. This is hard, but this is highly addictive. As you win races, you obtain cash to buy new cars (there are hundreds of them available) or upgrade your current vehicle.

The only weird thing is the B-Spec Mode. Here, you left the car and become a racing manager, only watching a race and giving orders, like run faster or slower, and push for an overtake. It's fun one or two times, but it becames boring. Imagine a 20-laps Nürburgring race on this mode. Terrible, huh?

Graphics are stunning, car sounds are also great. The music soundtrack features classics like Van Halen's "Panama" and some less known songs, but you can "delete" the ones you don't like from the playlist.

I myself am on the early stages of the game, but I'm enjoying it. I love to race on Nürburgring, Laguna Seca, Fuji... and I'm willing to unlock all the tracks for the arcade mode. I know I'll play this for a long, long time.
