Game review of the game "Gone home"

User Rating: 7 | Gone Home MAC

The game ”Gone home” is about Katie, she`s coming home from being in Europe for a year. While she was away the family moved house, but when she finally came home, the house was empty. Where is everyone? This you have to find out while you seek around the big house, you have to find clues and read letters.

The game takes place in 1995, something that is “helping” the game get a little scarier. The house is all wood and dark paint. The house is very big, something that make is kind of difficult to find all the information, but it also make it more exiting in a way. The story of the game is about Katie, her parents and little sister Sam. The task is to find out where her family is, and why nobody told her where they are.

As you explore the game further you find several doors that is locked. You then have to search around the house to find the key. As you pick up things and put them back it sometimes “triggers” Sam`s journal that she made to her sister Katie. In the journals she tells random things about her life that makes it easier to understand what happened.

The game doesn’t have background music, but it has kind of a scary melody witch make the game a bit scarier and more exiting. The graphics is very good, the game doesn’t look like a regular game, it looks like a real house. Witch makes it more fun to play. The gameplay in the game is very good, you find letters and notes that leads you to the next letter. And then when you find the last clue, you finish the game.

I liked the game because it was very exiting, when you first start the game it was very hard to stop playing it. You kind of feel you have to find out what happened. So I would definitely recommend it to more people, but maybe from the age sixteen and up, because it was kind of creepy and scary.
