Finally - a golf game that appeals to non-golfers!

User Rating: 8 | Golf: Tee It Up! X360
Let's get one thing clear - I hate golf games, real or virtual. I find them typically boring, full of esoteric knowledge that only doctors and sports geeks find interesting. So, imagine my surprise when I found myself not only playing the demo, but unlocking the full game of Tee It Up and spending my Saturday evening playing

The gameplay mechanics are very simple, you hit the button to swing, hit another to stop swinging. Hit it in the sweet spot and you've hit a good shot. It's that simple. There are, of course, other things to take into account, such as your club and the wind, but the game does a good job of letting you know about where you're going to land a given shot - as well as what would make you hit that shot better. If you're over shooting, there's even a limited "bullet time" feature to help steer you back on course.

What separates the game from other games is the charm. It has a cartoonish feel, similar to the Mario or Sega tennis. The graphics are gorgeous for a $10 Live game, and the courses themselves are especially pretty. The avatars are easily customizable with a myriad of outfit and accessory choices. You can also play multiplayer, although I have yet to dig deep into that.

I wouldn't recommend the game for anyone who's a fan of Tiger Woods or any other serious golf game, but for the type of person who'd rather go to Putt Putt than the driving range, this might just be the best golfing game you can get.
