Old school brilliance of a game!
Whilst many may cringe at the thought of a historically based combat game, others will welcome the game for which they are the smart ones as this game is almost perfect.
God of War takes place during the Roman times and revolves around a Soldier named Kratos a rough swordsman out looking for revenge on those who murdered his family.
The story is very complicated but very interesting so I wont spoil it for you.
The game play of God of War is truly brilliant. Basically you slash your enemies with your gauntlets and fight them with some bare handed combat moves. The formula may seem dated but it has been done so well you wont even care about that.Kratos throughout the course of the game will get the ability to upgrade his weapons (and the power of the gods as well) Fighting in god of war is brilliantly visual as blood will splatter everywhere from a well timed combo and other examples as well.
Graphically God of War is about as good it can get as shown in the FMVS. Many of them are gruesome but very entertaining and serve as good breaks from the game.
The sound of God of War is great as well with brilliant serving of ancient Greek style music with both gruesome and cool sounds to back up the game play.
God of War will keep you playing and coming back for a long time as there are plenty of extras to back up the story mode.
To sum up, God of War is a brilliant game with an excellent overall quality. The brilliant game play and the cinematic story of GOW will really have players in amazement and I strongly suggest anyone with a PS2 should purchase this game.
