Let me just say that I am the kind of RPG player, as I learned from a great friend, who will spend days in some random area of the game just beating up on helpless enemies just to get my main character's strength levels up enough so that I can pummel anyone who I come into contact with as I plow through the game. Gladius has a tier system that keeps me from doing this. I have to actually figure out how to beat the enemy fairly, as opposed to just using pure brute strength to overpower the enemy. Congrats to the team that made this game because along with strategy, you get to actually have an effect on the outcome of every hit and every battle. From timing your hits correctly, to furiously mashing buttons to acquire that great critical hit on the enemy, Gladius is a real nice RPG for the Gamecube. I won't really go into much detail about the background of the game because as a reader, you can get that from the main review. All I will tell you, aside from what I've already told you, is that Gladius is the type of game that can suck down a few hours of your day if you let it and might make you fail that biology test you have the next morning because you want to complete enough leagues to be able to challenge for the tournament. Please at least give it a rental and see if you like the storyline and the gameplay. Don't let this game sit on the shelf at Electronics Boutique all alone next to old copies of Luigi's Mansion.
