If The Monty Python Troupe Had Jetpacks And Lasers...

User Rating: 8.1 | Giants: Citizen Kabuto PS2
Giants: Citizen Kabuto is one of those very few games that actually made me laugh out loud. Its whimsically original story complements pretty darn fun gameplay for a blast for anyone looking for a unique game.

Giants allows you to play as three races at various points in the game. The Meccaryns have enough firepower to level a small moon and their jet packs make for some fun platforming. The Sea Reapers use sorcery and some hand-to-hand combat, while Kabuto just, well, beats the tar out of anything and everything. Each race controls well, and the variety is much appreciated. The graphics are decent, while not outstanding; sometimes the frame-rate really takes a hit.

The best part about Giants, however, is its plot. Well, the plot isn't exactly brilliant, but it is funnier than most big-budget summer trash can ever hope to be. The humor can best be described as Monty Python's offbeat zaniness meets Seinfeld's cultural references. In short, it's a riot.

Once the game is completed, there isn't much replay value. Still, its missions and characters are varied enough that many gamers will want to give Giants a second play-through, and the story and voice-overs will make each play worth the while.
