The first thing that should be said is that if you are thinking about buying this game, do it. You really, really, will not regret it, especially if you love the Ghostbusters series.

After watching the first movie again, I noticed many similarities between it and the game, which really made me like it more. Also, the Achievement titles are mostly lines from the movie, so if you've seen the movie or are a fan, you will recognize the lines from the feature films. The storyline is meant to be a third installment in the Ghostbusters story, which it successfully delivers by mixing in enough cutscenes to make the game feel like an interactive feature film. It makes it feel as if you are watching a movie, while playing the game at the same time.

I guess the game would be considered a shooter in a way, but it really isn't your average third-person shooter. You will play as a new Ghostbuster recruit, who everyone seems to bash on throughout the game. You are known as "Rookie," "Rook," or "The new kid" throughout the game. The Proton Pack you carry features 4 different settings, which all have 2 different types of firing types. All of which are very unique and each type of apparition or creature in the game is vulnerable to certain types of fire. You also carry a meter which displays how close you are to artifacts, goals, or anything supernatural. You can take scans which will give you data on different enemies, and different artifacts, which you can view in your pause screen menu.

You can also upgrade your Proton Pack's weapons throughout the game by earning cash for capturing ghosts and basically for doing what you're supposed to be doing. You also need to keep an eye on your damage costs, because when you damage property, you lose money.

As for the multiplayer, It is certainly worth it. There are a bunch of different game modes, each involving the same familiar concept, but having different goals in each "job," You also get a rank which is based mostly on the amount of money you earn in your multiplayer career. As your rank increases, your Ghostbusters in-game uniform will change color, coordinating with your current rank. There is also a co-op feature so that you can play through the campaigns with your friends over Xbox LIVE.

The Verdict:

Overall, I think this game is pretty well made, and if you're a fan of Ghostbusters, you will love all of the references to the movie, and will meet some familiar faces throughout your experience. If you a newcomer to the Ghostbusters series... Where have you been? No, but seriously, you will still enjoy this one. Give it a try.
