Not the most challenging game, but definitely worth a try!

Having grown up in the 80's and being a HUGE Ghostbusters fan as a kid, I was quite excited to hear that Atari was gonna be releasing a game for the next generation consoles based on the film series. The trailers depicting the game's gameplay only made me more anxious (as did the constant delays for its release!). Needless to say, it's not the most challenging or addictive action/adventure game out there, but the game as a whole definitely has a lot of great qualities that should keep both both fans and non-fans alike relatively entertainined.

The storyline is completely original, and was actually written by both Dan Akroyd and Harold Ramis, so you know that the story is gonna be pretty damn entertaining and amusing. To compliment the story of the game, all the original actors (Murray, Akroyd, Ramis, Hudson) even return to reprise the roles of their characters as voice actors! This without a doubt the coolest part of the game, as most of the dialogue is pretty funny and highly entertaining, particularly Murray's lines!

As most people already know, the visuals for the Wii version are considerably different than they are for the PS3 and Xbox360 versions. Unlike those version, which were developed by Terminal Reality, this version (developed by Redfly Studios) takes a more cartoony look, meeting the Wii technical capabilities a bit more. Granted, the visuals aren't as realistic or appealing to the eye as the Xbox360/PS3 versions, but they do have a certain charm to them that suit the game pretty damn well! Those who used to be a fan of the 80's cartoon in particular will get a strong sense of nostalgia from this title.

The aspect of this game that makes the Wii version well worth it though is of course the usage of the Wii's motion-censored, wireless controllers. Unlike numerous titles made by 3rd party developers, Ghostbusters actually makes use of the Wii's controllers BEAUTIFULLY! The Wii remote is used for the for actions such as changing weapons, aiming, shooting your proton beam, and exploring the games various options. The num-chuk is used to move around and release your trap whenever you catch a ghost Movemements are highly responsive, and it won't take you very much time or effort to get the hang of things!

The biggest gripe I have with the game is that it really isn't the most challenging action/adventure title around. Certain ghosts may pose more difficulty to defeat than others, but all that really means is that'll just take you a bit longer than anything else, as it is pretty damn difficult to actually die or get defeated in this game. The game isn't particularly long either. I haven't actually beaten it yet, but after playing it for just a couple of hours I've already completed about 50% of the game! Of course, there is the 2-player co-op option to make the gameplay more entertaining, and there are various hidden features and the option to increase the difficulty settings as well, so there should be enough to keep the game feeling fresh for a little while.

Overall, this is a pretty fun title that'll highly likely win over fans of the films and the animated series (such as myself), and even those who are completely unfamiliar with Ghostbusters will likely get a kick out of it!
