Gemini Rue is a welcomed throwback to old school adventure games, while being better written than most of them.

Gemini Rue is a one man project, written, animated and programmed by Joshua Nuernberger, praises to him.

It feels and plays like an old school adventure game, while being masterfully written and voice acted, which makes Gemini Rue a must play to any adventure aficionado. The pixelated old school look may annoy some people, but i thought that it looked great. The sounds coupled with the music and visuals created an amazing atmosphere .

The two playable characters are Azrael, the symbolically named former assassin seeking redemption, and his brother Daniel, who Azrael is trying to save. The setting is a mix between a film noir setting and a sci-fi setting. It does both very well. The voice acting is very good, especially between the main characters of the plot. There are some badly voiced characters, but those only have a few lines, so it's forgiven. The storyline is one of the best I've seen in this type of game or generally in games.

I really liked the mix of the old school interface, environmental puzzles, and the computer interface you need to use in order to advance. The game-play feels smarter than most adventure games. There is also combat, which is not horrible but feels unnecessary.

So, yes I can recommend this to adventure gamers, it's only a modest 15$ from the official site and it should be coming to steam soon. Indie game of the year for me.
