Wow. What a superb game.

User Rating: 9.3 | Gears of War X360
When I first popped in this game I was thinking wow, "Nice Graphics". But after fighting some enemies I soon started thinking hmm... maybe those people that gave this game 6.5's were right, it isn't all that fun... I think it's actually just the learning curve, because there's a pretty big one here. It takes a while to get used to actualy having to use cover and think out when and how you're gonna go about taking down your opponents on the Hardcore and Insane difficutly levels. After about an hour though, I was really getting into this game and totally changed my mind about the rating. The gameplay is fun, intense, gory, and exciting. It really feels like you're fighint tooth and nail with an overwhelmingly more powerful enemy, but still pulling out victories. I'd say one of the more fun things in this game is actually blindfiring, I'm sure not alot of people will agree with me, but I remember blindfire in Kill.Switch and it served no purpose at all, the bullets spread across the entire level and you couldn't aim to save your life. However in this game the bullets still go straight, it's just slightly harder to aim since you don't have Crosshairs until you pull the left trigger to raise your gun. Oh and man, the chainsaw. I knew this thing was gonna be fun, but not this fun. The first time I did it I was like, "Oh...my...god...." The chainsaw thing really came off perfectly. Last night I was playing, and me and my squadmate both pulled off a chainsaw move on an enemy at the same time and it was really cool haha. Just going back to the graphics though, I don't have a fancy HDTV. I have this crappy 20 inch standard definition about ten or eleven years old, and this game is still gorgeous. Easily surpassing anything I've seen on my beefed up computer rig, I'm not kidding. I'm gonna go for a nice 20 inch HDTV this Christmas for my room and I cannot wait to see how this game looks on that thing. Now yes, alot of what you people have been hearing about the story is true, it isn't that deep, but it still gives you good reason to be doing what your doing and why, however it would have been nicer if they had given you a little more info about the characters, but maybe since this game starts 14 years AFTER emergence day, Gears of War 2 will inform you a little more about their backgrounds. Now, usually I really harp a game on how deep and meaty their guns sound, now while Gears doesn't exactly make them as loud as they should be, something they do still makes them sound really satisfying to shoot. Maybe it's how the enemy will litterally be blown in half with a close range shot gun shot? I dunno but these guns truly are satisfying. For the soundtrack, eh. Something that would totally be blown away by say the Halo 2 music, but it still gets the job done. Just not with flying colors.
Now then, usually I don't include MP in my reviews as not everybody has access to it. Just know it's great, however it does not affect the ratings on my review.
