This was a fun game that I played to pass time and keep occupied. It made me laugh a few times!

Garfield's Defense - Android and I app 1/20/13

The whimsical world of Garfield is at your fingertips in this cute rendition of our favorite lasagna chomping feline. It is your sole mission to defend the refrigerator against the waves of food thieves at all costs. You will get to team up with some of Garfield's favorite friends including nermal, odie, and Jon

This is unlike your typical defense game, in that you are playing in side scrolling fashion, instead of top down format. You slowly recover popcorn, which is your fuel to power additional units to help you in battle. You may also employ the help of mice that will hurl pieces of toast from stationed positions to help deflect the waves of enemies.

The action is real time and as you will quickly notice, if you take Garfield too far into the heat of battle, without properly leveling him up, his health will quickly evaporate. You will have to balance cost and strength when deciding who to call to aid you in battle.

A healthy dose of level grinding and patience will be necessary to properly level up your forces to combat the seemingly tireless waves of enemies. I found it most useful and effective to level up nermal at early stages of the game, as you can spawn her with just 10 popcorns, and her bonuses are pretty decent when leveling up. I realized that one of the not so critical level ups was the expensive cost of powering up your refrigerator, since, once the enemy has reached the refrigerator, unless Garfield is a high level, there really is not battling them back at that point.

At points in the upper levels the game does get to be a little strenuous, as the power of the enemy, especially the defender one with the cookie sheet to block your attacks, is just too overwhelming, and the cookies to buy additional levels for your units too scarce. This is really where the game came unhitched for me, as it is clear that the developer's said, enough free play for you, now you have to pay if you want to play the rest of the game.

Overall my time was enjoyable, as I related to a lot of the characters from some of the strips in the Sunday newspaper and cartoon. It was a nice break to have a lighthearted defense game from a different perspective, rather than the top down dungeon brawlers that are common place in the market today.

Thanks for reading and have an Epic Day!
