Old-Style Arcade Shooter Action!

User Rating: 8 | Galaga '88 TG16
Many people missed Galaga '90 (or Galaga '88 in arcades). The style of play is very similar to its predecessors Galaga and Galaxian: Alien ships mass at the top of the screen, and your job is to blast them without getting blasted yourself. The simple formula allows for some rather addictive (if slightly repetitive play).

Galaga '90 adds some new flavor which helps to keep play interesting. The challenge stages are still there, however they now have a dancing theme with music. There are different themes to stages, which allows for more variety to the standard stars background in Galaga - also a larger variety in enemies to destroy. If you can collect blue canisters (1 in each standard stage) you can do a "dimension warp" to a more challenging track of stages. Finally, if you are really brave - let your dual-ship be captured, then rescue it to have a super-ship with three shots (very helpful in the new challenge stages). There's a whole lot more that's new - but I'd rather let you experience that for yourselves. No sense in spoiling the surprise. The graphics may be dated, but there's no denying that Galaga '90 will being back memories. If you ever liked the space shooter genre, you would be a fool to pass this game by.
