Full Auto 2 is pretty entertaining, but something important is just missing and the missions are not engaging.

CAR COMBAT

Full Auto 2 was one of Playstation 3's first launch games. It is a car combat game, not like Twisted Metal or Rogue Trip, but with realistic normal cars and no characters.

WHAT STORY?

The storyline is pretty bland and just an excuse for the action. There are some bad guys taking control of areas and then a female voice, which gets annoying after a while, telling you what to do and what's the situation.

DESTROY IT ALL

The graphics are really good looking, as you can expect. The cars look pretty shiny and good and the scenery look fine, too, although most of the normal racing areas are just grey roads with grey towns as scenery.

GATLING GUNS AND CANNONS

The controls are pretty easy to learn and easy to use once you master them, but the driving model is very pale and shaky compared to Gran Turismo and Forza Motorsport. The cars turn in a pretty weird habit and sometimes it feels like it's not a real driving game at all, or a very very arcade one. Thank god the action is fun and you get to choose your very own weapons from machine guns, cannons, smokescreens, rams and mines. The damage model works well and it's great fun to destroy the scenery.

AS GENERIC AS IT GETS

The soundtrack has around fifteen to twenty licensed songs and then more than enough generic drum 'n' bass tracks. Highlight of the soundtrack is easily Stonesour's "30/30-150" which is a great song and the low points are some of the weakest drum 'n' bass songs that are just too boring and unoriginal.

LOTS OF VARIETY

The game is pretty good in length and there are lots of different missions like straight-forward racing, gladiator battles, special tasks like destroying a boss vehicle and racing against the clock. The missions are really uninspired, maybe it's because of the lackluster storyline, maybe not. The game really doesn't get you hooked, but I have to admit I enjoyed ramming the hell out of opponents with a huge pick-up that had a hook in the back (called Hookzilla).

OVERALL: Full Auto 2 Battlelines has it's moments like split screen gladiator battles and online play, but the blandest storyline ever causes uninspired missions and the game doesn't really get you hooked. If you don't care for a realistic driving model, then maybe this arcade one with weird acting cars and explosive guns is your choice.

+ Pros: Good graphics, split screen action, some of the gladiator battles are exciting, destroyable scenery, it's fun ramming the hell out of other cars

- Cons: Weird driving model at times, bland storyline, uninspired missions, doesn't get you hooked

REAL SCORE: 7.2
