Should it be? Yes. Will it ever be? Unlikely. Being an Xbox LIVE Gold member has a fair shair of benefits and the price tag for a yearly subscription really isn't that bad. If you know where to look or you wait for sales you can find a year membership for $40 and under. Honestly, if you so happen to be one of the people shelling out for new games upon release with ease then you shouldn't really be complaining about LIVE fees.
honestly, trolling aside, i want online subscriptions to be paid.
because it puts an expectation and a standard for the company to follow through.
it's okay for the Wii U to have shit online, we're not paying anyway.
but xbox live needs to be a fun experience, otherwise people wont pay.
Well said. I also want online subscriptions to be paid. Xbox Live is an incredible online service and I don't think it would be anywhere near as great as it is if it was free. PSN has always been free and look at how mediocre it has always been. Now that they have switched to a paid subscription; they are making improvements to the service like getting better servers and finally implementing cross-game chat because if they don't make it great then people won't pay for it. I for one will gladly pay for a higher quality online service and considering that online multi-player games generally sell better on the 360 when they could instead get the PS3 version and play for free; obviously most people prefer to pay for a quality online service as well.honestly, trolling aside, i want online subscriptions to be paid.

Well, nobody in their right mind can dis-agree that LIVE is the better service in general, but to say that the PSN hasn't improved is incorrect. The server issues is always open to debate because there are to many factors that can effect the quality of service. The PSN is faaaaar from perfect but there have been major improvements sinse the service has launched.
