I'm trying to decide between gettinga 360 elite vs premium and I'm wondering if the wifi capabilities is built into the elite, like the ps3 has? It would be hard for me to pay for the elite and buy the 100 dollar wifi adapter.

The Elite does NOT have a Wi-Fi adaptor built in. If you want wireless on the 360 you have to buy the $100 adaptor separately.

I haven't bought the adapter yet due to the pricing of it. All of the reviews I've read on it said the adapter works really well. I believe you can also buy a wireless USB adapter and use it on your 360.

Yeah obviously if you have a wireless internet connection. It just hurt my wallet badly when I did.

It really sux that they call a system "ELITE" when it doesn't include wifi---even the Nintendo DS has a built in wifi. Thanks MS.

That doesn't work. All third party USB dongles, adapters etc need drivers to run which the 360 doesn't have.

You know---you don't even need that adapter. Just buy another wireless router. Then plug the xbox into the 2nd wireless router (you do have to configure the router first to work as a wireless bridge). MUCH cheaper.

Go to Xbox.com and find the list of compatible devices. There are $40 wireless adapters that work fine. It's always been this way, you don't need to blow $100 on the MS one.

I bought one for mine it rocks! Very powerful i never get lag and I can host matches just fine. Man but they need a black one for elite users.

In my opinion the Microsoft adapter IS worth it. It just snaps into the back of your console and plugs right in via USB... no power cables, no ethernet wires, etc like you'll have to use with wireless bridges, second routers etc..

If you have the money, go for the elite and the adapter, if not, go for the premium and the adapter.
