Why compare them. I love the DMC games and have played them all. I loved the NG on xbox and am getting this one as well. They are both great games and I am sure the NG 2 will be great as well.
TBH though nothing can beat Dante as a character. I love him as a video game character.
it will be close. my roomate has DMC4 on ps3, and I'll probably at least rent NGII. They are similar games, but DMC has guns and some other wierd ass weapons. also NGII will probably be alot harder.
I prefer the Ninja Gaiden series over Devil May Cry. DMC4 (which I'm currently playing through) has some silly design choices in my opinion, but NG2 may have similar flaws. We'll see come Tuesday.
I doubt it, so far all of the reviews and feedbacks on the game have been disappointing where as DMC was a true next generation update to a brilliant series.The gameplay was deeper (and more fun) in DMC3 than the first NG anyway, Capcom know what they are doing with action and the combos you could pull off with weapons switching where awesome. The cynical side of me can't help but feel this is hyped more because it is exclusive, because I honestly feel that DMC and GOW where better than NG :?.
Ninja Gaiden 2 will most likely beat DMC 4. Although DMC 4 is still fun it get's really repetetive and NG 2 looks like it's action packed the whole way.
Gamerankings.com says it all, NGII's average review score is already lower than DMC4's and thats 9 Vs. 53 Reviews .. NGII is not looking to be as good as we had all hoped... Shame, I'm sure it will be good but nothing revolutionary like the first. :(
As said before... Ninja's are better than Pirates, but Alas Ryu is no Dante. :)

I'll never understand how anyone can think Ninja Gaiden is more fun than DMC. While I like Ninja Gaiden, it's miles behind DMC. DMC just feels stylish and never has a dull moment. Ninja Gaiden is more technical, blocking at the right moment etc., which is fun but in no way compares to the absolute coolness and destruction you can pull off in DMC. The level design in DMC is rank too, everything's so bland and plastic, and the enemies / bosses seems so uninspired. However, despite its more than glaring flaws, I adored NG on the xbox, and I'll be getting NGII regardless of bad reviews, but on no level can it compare to the pure sex-on-a-disc that is DMC. But everyone has their own opinion.
Every review I have seen has ONLY complained about the Difficulty (I like Difficult) and the Camera (you gotta learn to master it), the story has come up (a valid complaint), However, as far as bad assery goes NG2 tops DMC4. BUT when it comes to stylistic gameplay DMC4 leaves NG2 in the Dust. In DMC 4 you are a powerhouse, whereas in NG2 you are just a ninja with the skills necessary to survive. The gameplay is on opposite ends of the Bad Assery spectrum.
Not sure why people are saying NG2 is getting 'bad' reviews. On metacritic, it's got a couple of 7's, three 9's and the rest 8's. That's far from 'bad'. If you read the reviews, the biggest knock, just like with the first one, is the high difficulty level. It's the difficulty level that polarizes this game into either 'love it' or 'hate it' and not much in the middle. Gameplay is fluid, the graphics & gore are top notch, but the story, like most Japanese games, gets lost in translation. Seeing how great the first one was, and even how well received a mere port to another system (Sigma on PS3) was, all signs point to another great game, if you have the stones for the high level of difficulty. As for 'coolness', that's very subjective, but IMO both Dante and Ryu are pretty high when it comes to cool factor.
