They are very different games. I like to play Dead Rising more, but I tihnk Resident Evil is a better series. It's all about taste. I thought Resi 4 was a little too creepy for my taste...
Hard call. I recently played Dead Rising at my friends the other day and all though an awesome game, a modern technology feat perhaps(all those damn zombies) I'm gonna have to go with RE4. It was one of the best games ever and still holds up well to some of the 'next-gen' or current gen watever you want to call it.
Resident evil 4 hands down... Just one warning about this game: do not play in the dark with a surround sound stereo like I did (It scared the crap out of me).

Both have crappy controls and the save system in Dead Rising is horrible.

Regardless, I prefer RE4 over Dead Rising, simply because Dead Rising grows boring after an hour.

Yeah. Have tried it on ps2, GC and Wii. didint like it. You turn way too slow for my liking. And I dont like the weird 3rd person view.
I thought Resident Evil 4's controls and camera angle were far better than the originals..some people are going to flame me for saying that I guess, but I think it's way better.
I would say Resident Evil 4 is, all inclusive, the best game I have ever played. Dead Rising was pretty good too, but the sheer joy of tearing through zombies wore off much sooner than the fun of 5-starring Mercenaries maps did. Also, RE4s story was the less contrived of the two, and thats saying alot.

I enjoyed the Dead Rising demo, but RE4 was the first game I ever played constantly until I beat it. So yeah RE4. In any case I find most all CAPCOM games enjoyable. Onimusha and Lost Planet are favs of mine as well.

Dead rising was good and all that, but there is no way it can compare to Resident Evil 4. To me dead rising was just another zombie game, and Resident Evil 4 was the best in the series. Most definitly resident evil 4 is better.

Dead Rising was certainly unique, not just another zombie game. I respect that most people think RE4 is better, but Dead Rising is certainly not cookie-cutter.
RE4 Is awesome in my opinion. I think it was a very well made game and the story, enemies, bosses make it a challenging fun game. Never played Dead Rising, so really can't say this which is better.
I bought a Gamecube just to play Resident Evil 4. I really like Dead Rising, but Resident Evil 4 remains one of the best games available years after its release. I mean, you're arguing over two games that are years apart and in that regard, the older game should win by virtue of staying power.
Of course all of the xbox fanboys are like "oh dead rising is so much better." It is a good game, but nothing compared to RE4, one of the greatest games of all time.

ok buddy, I really liked RE4. But Dead Rising is one of the reasons im an xbox fan.
Both games are great, but to save all your money, go to http://www.crazymonkeygames.com/Boxhead-2Play-Rooms.html and use the following settings -Difficulty: Nightmare -Object Collision: off -Devils: off -Friendly Fire:off -Gamespeed: Fast. It beats both games combined. Ok, not really, but it's really fun.
