Well what made me forget about the game totally was that it was competing against Tony Hawk's Proving Ground. And that game IMO is superior then Sk8te, but I wll check the demo out and see if I like it and look at some gameplay videos. Thanks for the heads up! Isn't Rob & Big in this game?

i'm just happy to see that jeff also reviewed proving ground, and low and behold, it tanked. from a guy who usually praises the TH series, it's great to see an unbiased review. as for skate, i love the game, but i can understand why he gave it a 7.5. personally i would score it higher, but there are some slight issues in the trick availability. there's no old-school, rodney mullen type stuff to be found, and there are tricks that i would love to see, but don't exist (darkslides being the big one). i like that you can do late and backfoot flips and shuvit's, but they tend to feel spotty at best. also, it would be amazing if you could set more than one session point, because there's so much to do that it can be hard to remember every place you may have passed and wanted to try a line later on... as for this whole topic, i don't see how skate is underrated in any way, as the majority of reviewers have given it 9 or above (minus GS of course).
It is a good game, I'm enjoying it alot. But I can see why it's been marked down alittle because of the controls. Some of the challenges I've got now are causing me alot of frustration because they're so specific, and I can't quite manage to do those tricks. And I'm quite clumsy, so that doesn't help. :P
I'll say it was very underrated to certain *coughgamesites*, but word of mouth is still great about it. It's not under or overrated at all. It's a first step into a totally revolutionary way to play skateboarding games. I had more fun with it than I did with all my TH game combined (besides maybe THUG1, the absolute best TH game made)
I picked it up a couple of hours ago after sinking at least 6 hours into the demo. Gah, finishing this essay is taking forever. Once it's done, I can play.

But there is no one in the game that skates like Rodney Mullens so it wouldn't really make sense to have stuff like it in the game and I think that stuff like that would make the game feel tacky as people will just make videos of them doing caspers etc
^^^ True, there's noone ion the game that skates like Mullen, but that's the point. You're trying to make your skater the way YOU want him. As for flatground and oldschool tricks making the game tacky, well, that's nonsense. How can a video of a casper (a real-life, but very hard to do trick) look any worse than the hundreds of front/back flips to coffin grind garbage videos that are being posted now. Regardless of what tricks are added, there will always be those out there who try to make this game play like Tony Hawk.
I may buy it used or somethin.. Especially sine it came out before now, Im not caught up on my 360 games yet..
All I have is Halo 3... Ive had a few games back before when I used to have a 360, But now im worried about whats coming out within the next few months..
This game is obviously underrated because no one hardly seems to talk about it..
The online looks pretty fun to just mess around with your friends and upload footage.. From the demo theres so many random things that happen to me its hilarious.
I also think Skate has gone a little unnoticed being the good game it is. I had seen a couple of vids a while ago but had completely forgotten about it and this week I bought and have been playing it quite a bit. I think it's much better than any TH game. A must buy(or rent), at least for those who have a some level been interested in skateboarding.
