xD Thats not enough time for general proccessing units to become better! I mean the Gforce 8800 is not that big of a step.....microsoft should wait about 5 or 4 years before making a new console....as much as i want a new xbox im going to have to say WAIT!
Yeah, the average console life cycle is a bit more than 5 years, 6 is stretching it. Would be nice if they made the cycles longer by at least a year though. Games really start getting amazing in that last 1.5-2 years of a console as everyone is finally really familiar with the hardware. New consoles bring a lot of growing pains with lots of games being only mediocre ports or half polished originals. Honestly, are we ever going to reach a point when there's really no need to upgrade the hardware anymore? That would be the best so we could just concentrate on making games as great as can be instead of constantly learning new hardware crap. Maybe its just me, but I'm pretty much over graphic upgrades, I'd rather see way more upgraded in the gameplay department.
I think it really depends, if Sony plans on having the PS3 for over 5-6 years, the Microsoft should wait until their competions console is at the end of its life cycle.

Huh? The 8800GTX will be in 4 years what the 9800pro is now. There will be MUCH better hardware in 4 years.
