I want a 360 but I don't want the new dashboard. it suxs so should i buy one before the daashboard comes out? is it a mandatory update? can i turn it off?
You've only seen it. You haven't actually used it. So don't pass judgement. Who knows, you might actually really like it. As someone who's had a 360 for nearly 3 years now, it's a welcome change.
Why don't you give it a try first. Find someone who has it and try it. Like I said you might like it. They aren't updating it just for the sake of making it look different. There's all sorts of new functionality too. I won't go into details, because there's enough of that info on the net. And in the end, what does it matter really? Are you buying a 360 to tool around in the dashboard or to play games?

the fact that you contemplating not getting a video game console because of the dashboard is VERY odd.... if everyone thought like that the the gamecube would have sold NO units! (ok maybe bad example)
but if you REALLY don't want to use it then you'll only see it a couple of seconds before your game starts! so stop stressing!
I'm personally really looking forward to the new update, I think it looks great. I think it's weird though that your conisdering not getting a 360 because of the dashboard, its not like that's the reason you play games. Nor do you need to spend much time there if you don't want to.
The only issue I can maybe see being a problem with the new update is the Microsoft Mii's. But, Microsoft as already announced that the Mii's are optional so, yeah, I bought my Xbox within the first week and I'm excited about the update. The dashboard looks like it will get a nice new sleak look to it.

thats a petty reason not to want a 360 and like everyone else said its not out yet so dont judge it.
You don't have a 360 yet though you don't like a feature for it thats not even out for it yet because that makes sense? Trust me buddy this new interface looks a lot better than the dashboard. Its a lot cleaner and less cluttered and it looks a lot more organized. And I don't know about you but I hate advertisements in my consoles menus which the new dashboard is removing. Maybe you love giant ads that take up a quarter of the screen and totally ruin your background themes I dont know what your into.
How much time are you going to spend in the dashboard anyway? Usually people spend most of their time playing games.judog1
