Well i keep mine horizontal because i think its safer that way, ive heard things about teh disc being scratched alot when its vertical, but vertical seems alot better for cooling, is the disc scratching thing true?
How do you keep your 360?

[QUOTE="Staryoshi87"]Vertical 100% of the time. Looks cooler, runs cooler, and has ABSOLUTELY NO negative repurcussions. Vertical is the only way to go.shorty0100397
my friend keeps his vertical but he is in the process of getting his 3rd 360 back (2 hardware failures). I don't think the position affects hardware problems but it does for scratched discs (another friend has had a few). I'm about to purchase a 360 within the next month and I'll definitely keep mine horizontal (no scratched discs for me) and make sure to check how hot it is often. I can't live without my gears of war fix and plus I'd like to play with people I actually know.
Does the elite experience these problems at all? haven't heard much and I don't have any friends with it. I saw a video of one with hardware failure on youtube but it was crammed in an extremely small space (I'm kinda thinking it overheated).
Vertical. People need to stop spouting this BS about how having it vertical makes it easier to scratch CDs or screw up your system. It doesn't. 360 scratches discs because it has no foam pads, no matter what position you have it in. Hell, the odds are that most people who have had problems with their 360 and/or game discs had it horizontal, since that's the common and default position for video game systems (and anything you stick a CD into).
I have mine vertical like many said because it simply looks cooler (looks like an actual next-gen system, horizontal is so passe), and because it takes up less space. And I don't know for a fact, but it does seem like it ventilates more easily when it's upright.

Horizontal for sure! I see a lot of posts about superior ventilation and cooling while its vertical???? are you whacked out to lunch....look where the main vents for the units are....Horizontal gives completely free air flow to the fans in this fine system that occasionally gets a bit hot.krullex
Not true, vertical does provide much better ventilation. I had my 360 horizontal for almost year until it overheated and broke. Now I keep my new 360 vertical and it i check how hot the system gets after everytime i play it for long sessions and after 5 hours of playing it, my 360 was cooler vertical than it was after 1 hour of play horizontal.

I said it "might" ventilate more easily if you have it vertical for the simple fact that having it vertical takes up less room, which means there's more space all around the console, whichcan mean more air flow throughout the various vents. And the "main vents" thing isn't even an issue. If you have it vertical you block off the vents on the side of the 360, but you have added vents that are blocked off when you have it horizontal.
