I don't know about you, but my hands sweat when I'm gaming. I guess I'm weird, but it seems like I'm wiping my palms every 15min or so.

It depends on how much I game, but I think I buy a new controller every 10mos-1yr. AFter a year of gaming, my "main" controller has this film over the grips.

Same here. I've thought about replacing mine though. Overall it's in good shape, but the thumb sticks are beginning to feel loose for lack of a better word. Also, the four little nubs on the top of the thumbsticks have worn off which causes my thumb to slip off once in awhile.

I need a new one, maybe the red one. My current one is fine except the analog sticks are a little loose, probably because I dropped it down a flight of stairs twice.

I take good care on my stuff too.

It's just that after about a year or so, my controllers have this "film" on the grips. And I'm guessing that's from my hands sweating. The controller still works fine though. I just can't stand that film on the controller

Rarely. I only have two controllers. I may get a new one since the controller I got the console with is starting to wear down. But two controllers is enough for me.

I've been using my wired one for 3 years, but the rubber on one of the joysticks has rubbed completely off (almost useless, so I ripped the rest). Basically, my left thumb sits on a small, jagged, plastic piece (but I still own!). If I weren't soo cheap, I'd probably buy a new one...

I wish it was that easy. I think the film gets engrained into the controller, seriously.

Maybe I'm using the wrong cleaning product :?

I don't know about everyone else, but I have had alot of problems with my wireless controllers. I purchased my 360 about 5 months ago and I have had to send 3 controllers to MS. The white one that came with the xbox was leaking white powder so badly from the joystick areas that it was rubbing all over my buttons, on my hands, etc. Than the black controller I got crapped out in 3 weeks, the analog sticks were practically broken and everytime I played my character would quickly creep top right or left and thus to his doom. My red one I got 2 weeks ago, I opened it and found out that because of the white powder problem they are apparently selling squeeky controllers, this one had 2 very squeeky joysticks and squeeky bumpers, so bad that everyone I played with only could hear and complained. However, because MS knows there stuff is junk, they are always quick to replace anything I send it, thus I have sent in all of my controllers and hopefully I will never have to buy a new one as long as MS is willing to replace them.

Never. Never had to replace my Super Nintendo, Nintendo 64, XBox, or Xbox 360 controllers. I'll add new controllers to my existing ones, but I've never had to replace a broken controller.

I've only had to buy one so far. Didn't really even have to buy it. It was the one that came with the 360. The downside is that I lost my controller batter pack thing so I had to improvise and make own using tin foil, masking tape, and a penny.

Hardly ever. I've still got the controller that came with my PS2, which I got the year it came out. I've gotten a new PS2 since then, but my controller has survived despite it's scrapes and bruises :)

I dont think its a film you have. Mine get the same sort of thing, its the plastic wearing down, you`ll notice a new one has a sort of texture to it, but it gets worn off.

I have bought 1 replacement wired controller, my first one just was not as tight; the buttons were getting dull, and sometimes I would move around without touching the stick. This was just from use.

Just because you buy a new one doesn`t mean you dont take care of your stuff, it means you use it.

well if you use your xbox much, the rubber will wear off the thumbsticks leading to slippage. ALSO i noticed with not much use the controllers become loose, and sometimes (if left untouched) will wander to one direction. i have had this happen to all 4 of my controllers, actually 3 my new one isnt there yet. FIX THE DARN D-PAD!!!

I think there's an easy solution here. Just wear latex gloves when you play. You can get a box of about 50 or 100 pairs for pretty cheap, your hands won't get hot, you still have the flexibility as if you weren't wearing any gloves at all, you'll save money and all that jazz. Sure it's weird, but just make sure to wash your hands afterwards.

I don't know man my hands sweat really really bad when I am gaming, I have had the same controller for 4 years and I have no prob with it. What I can tell you that might help with that film is about every 3 to 4 months I clean my controller with alchol and q-tips, I clean all of the dirt off the buttons and the cracks, and also I clean the indents of the text on the rb and lb buttons. So if you are having problems with that film try that it works for me It should work for you.

I needed a replacement one for a faulty one straight out of the box about 3 weeks ago. EB Games ordered it for me, then called me up about 3 hours later and said they had found one out back. However they mustn't have canceled the order cause they asked me to come pick my new controller today. Sweet, free black wireless controller. ;)
