There won't be any difference. Your TV has a res of 640x480 no matter what is playing on it. HD-DVD output in 1280x720 or 1920x1080, but will be downscaled to fit to the TV resolution. In other words, don't buy it, you'd be wasting your money BIG TIME!

Don't bother, but you can get a 19-20' computer monitor that supports 720p. They're fairly cheap right now.

I don't know if it would work or not. you wouldn't be getting the higher resolution, but I'm sure there would be less compression, so it WOULD look better than a regular dvd even on SDTV, but I dunno if it'll work.

Your right...The compression is better so he would see a less grainy image, but I don't think $200 is worth a less grainy image....

I would recommend saving money for a nice HD display of some type.

I've heard before that the picture looks better on an SDTV. I'm obviously not expecting HD quality..that's why I was asking....to see if what I heard was true...

Even some people in this topic have stated it might look better due to compression

Maybe let's hear from someone with an SDTV who actually bought one and see....

You can all speculate with your technical mumbo jumbo about whether or not it would hypothetically work...how about a real world example from somebody who actually knows?

Let me see...why would I ask about this on a 360 forum...hmmm...could be due to the fact that it's an xbox 360 product...no wait...that couldn't possibly be it....What do you think!?!?!

Lot's of people on the 360 forum have one, and I thought maybe somebody might actually have purchased one without an HD setup and would know the answer....

It would be similar quality to SuperBit DVDs. It is still a silly investment without a High Def TV unless you plan to get one fairly soon and want to start building up a Collection of HD movies.

The SDTV can only output at maximum 704x480 resolution (which is either 480(i/p)). Which is not even up to the resolution of DVD (720x480). Which mean it cannot display anything better than DVD.

And yes I try to watch High Definition disc on SDTV before. It doesn't look better than DVD. I bet alot of people here also have SDTV around somewhere in their house. You can ask them to try out all you want, I gurantee you the answer is the same.

It just ... make sense.

Thanks for your response...all I wanted to hear was from someone who actually tried it.

You're an idiot. If that doesn't answer your question, then I can't help you, no one can.

No need to go insulting people. Really shows your level of intelligence....just because somebody is not as technologically inclined as you, they are automatically an idiot...I get it....good show
