I feel this way with most RPGs unless they really nailed the story, characters, and they didn't have hours of dull grinding before seeing another cutscene/character dialogue. I really enjoyed how they did it in Tales of Vesperia.
I feel that way about the best JRPG's I've ever played BECAUSE the story was so good the first time through. Final Fantasy X is my favorite game of all time, and my first playthrough of it was just amazing. But each time I play through it it gets slightly less amazing, simply because I already know what's going to happen, and it feels less genuine. Which is why I only give it another playthrough once every year or two haha.I feel this way with most RPGs unless they really nailed the story, characters, and they didn't have hours of dull grinding before seeing another cutscene/character dialogue. Call of Duty 4. Playing "all ghilled up" was just amazing. nate_c-12Yeah mate, that mission is EPIC when you're playing it the first time! but...
Portal - I love games that are a challenge and make you think, and this was just really great fun.Avenger1324This one is also good.
Gears of War mainly because it was my first next-gen game and I was stunned by the visuals.
Most RPG's are best the first time due to the story progression.
And of course Portal because it's a puzzle game.
actually, as thishas turned intoan "all time" list... lol, I'd have to say RE4, Flashback, and Streets of Rage 2... and Sonic the hedgehog 2(the Mega drive one...)
My original post still stands however with the notable inclusion of SW:TFU.... can't believe I forgot about that game... lol.
Fallout 3 The game is just packed with so much fun first time through and it beats Cod4 Gow1/2 and halo trioligy by a long shot.
I agree with you on Fallout 3. I'm not into RPGs by any means but it was fun to play the role of a guy who was looking for his dad in a post apocolyptic world. Also, I really enjoyed the COD4 campaign. I only played multiplayer for the first year that I had it but then I decided to play through the campaign and I'm glad I did because it was awesome.
