Heard there wasnt any lag whatsoever... Is this true?

Not true, but I encountered less lagg in the Gears 3 beta than any shooter I can remember. Matches are either perfect or incredibly laggy. It's usually the former.
Successfull based on what ? On the amount of players playing the beta ?? The amount of feedback given back to the developper ? Based on playability for us testers ??
There are several criteria for what is a successfull beta
In my opinion its hard to say how successful the beta was based on whatever criteria the developer had in mind. There were some problems in the beta that I hope they identified and will take care of. But, however, when considering the fun factor vs the frustration factor the beta was successful.
