Do i need to make a new live account to get 1 month of free live?

Okay, i bought a new xbox 360 and when setting it up, i chose to use my old live account which i created when playing LIVE on the pc. But it is silver, and there wasn't a free month in the package. Do i have to make an new account on the xbox 360 to get the free trial?

btw, this is my first console i ever got in my life :D and i love it so far

If you create an account on the console, you'll get one free month of live. If you used your profile for your silver account, you have to make a new one and create another gamertag on the console to get a free trial.Iraqi_Gangster
