every tv is different so whats good for one person might not apply to your tv. get the cable and take a look for yourself, or ask specifically for your tv and get its details up

I'd go with component. I have a 46" Samsung 1080p, got the vga cables and my screen was washed out and had what looked like a white coating over it. I'm tempted to upgrade my360 to hdmi here next month though. lol

on a lot of 1080p tv's (older models) the vga port is limited. you can't adjust the picture settings fully on some. Some wont let you display the full resolution of your tv. I have a little older 60'' 1080p sony sxrd set. I can only get 1360x768 not the full 1920x1080 off vga. I also have a newer 42'' westinghouse 1080p set, that takes the full 1080p signal through all hd inputs, component, vga and hdmi. Its almost the luck of the draw with vga. Vga was meant for PC monitors not tvs, this is why vga ports are limited on some sets. If I where you I would look at your user manual to see what your vga port supports. If your vga port is not limited I would go with that. You can upscale dvds, the picture can be sharper and more vibrant over component. The #1 factor is your tv and how it handles VGA

Well Microsoft recommended the VGA hdtv cable and that is what i use as it gives me a much cleaner picture than the component cable and i think i am sure the component cable will not allow dvd's to be upscaled ? where as the VGA does .

I might be wrong but I thought you could only get 1080p with HDMI. Component cables are not digital, it is still analog. I am unsure of the VGA cables.

You can get 1080p through component with games but not while using the HD-DVD addon.

That's if you're using the HD-DVD addon. But if you're just using it for gaming, then component works great. I currently have it set up for 1080p using component and it works fine.

It all depends on your tv and how it handles vga. I tried it out on my samsung and it was washed out and looked like it had a white coating over the screen. So component works for me. But you could always do what I did and go buy a vga cable somewhere and try it out. If it doesn't work out, then just return it as I did.
