A Quick question about Xbox live

Well i recently got xbox live and well I got a prepaid gold card and i redeemed the code in my profile thinking that all the other profiles on my xbox would have access to live. but only my profile can access live and not the others........so does every profile need its on card or did i do something wrong

It is only for one account... otherwise one guy would just put 50 of his friends accounts on his Xbox and just enter a code and then they would all recover their accounts back onto their Xbox's... and 50 people would have Live for the price of one...
