Via WWE.com

WWE.com has learned that WWE Champion John Cena sustained an injury during WWE's European tour. The WWE Champion injured his right Achilles tendon while battling Ryback.

The injury raises questions about the scheduled match between Cena and Ryback at Extreme Rules on May 19. What lies ahead for the Cenation leader? Does this put Ryback one step closer to capturing the WWE Title?

There are no details yet about Cena's expected recovery time.

For more, stay with WWE.com and tune in to Mondays Raw at 8/7 CT on USA Network.

What happens when you lose the top two superstars on Raw, and you have a mediocre at best class of talent to back them up? WWE Lacks depth, and if this injury is serious, the WWE, Raw in particular is in trouble.

I am also a bit skeptical about WWE.com reporting this injury. If anything, the WWE likes to stay quiet about these injuries. I am not saying this injury illigetimate, what I'm saying, is this injury may not be that serious. Usually this kind of stuff is leaked to outside sources, and then WWE does some weird angle to write them off television. The WWE rarely, if ever, announces and injury on their website, and the superstar gets written off television.

Also, no one in attendance reported anything odd about Cena's achilles. If you tear your achilles, thats a painful injury and there will be noticeable pain.

My take is, Cena tweaked his achilles, is fine, and will announce to the world tomorrow night that he's going to fight like hell to retain his championship.

Really? You're still under the impression that there's some sort of brand seperation? :|

I'm not naive to believe a brand separation exists. However, there is a brand separation in terms of which superstars chase which titles, in particular, the WWE and World Title.

So yes, Raw in particular would be hurt. Example, CM Punk doesn't chase the World Heavyweight title, neither does Cena. Randy Orton doesn't chase the WWE title, neither does Sheamus.

Yet they all wrestle on the same shows. That's not a seperation between Raw and Smackdown, that's title seperation. That's like naming a new brand for Kofi Kingston, who seemingly only ever chases after the intercontinental title.

As I clearly pointed out, I don't believe there is a true brand separation exist. The point is, that these superstars dont chase the same titles, so there is some kind of separation.

they need to make everyone a free agent and do the Draft on RAW and Smackdown. that would clear up all the confusion and set the Titles apart once again. they also should split the Tag Team and Divas Titles and have a true separation like they did back in 2007.

Shoulda pushed Cesaro, Sandow, Ryder, Rhodes (ect. ect.). Oh well, at least now they might actually have no choice but to push more people.

WON reports that he suffered a bruised heel, so this is actually legitimate.

As far as how severe the injury is (or how he got injured in the first place), that is unclear.

The roster isn't nearly dense enough to support this type of format anymore, though. The only reason it worked before is because their roster became so overflowed. But the way things are now? Honestly, there's no point in a brand split anymore, there'd be no real benefit to it, and quite frankly there's too many titles floating about nowadays as well. The world title especially has got to go.

I would argue that it's the US title that needs the boot, given that it's become entirely irrelevant. Although it is getting harder and harder for me to justify the World Heavyweight title in the same way I used to even just a year and a half ago.

We need David Arquette to bring legitimacy back to that title.
