WOW! Chimps are so muscular... pics inside..

I knew that they were supposed to be strong for their size... but wow, I wasn't aware that their arms were actually this big and strong looking:

Anyway, yeah, they have some big arms and they are pretty ripped for not working out and it's amazing considering what they eat compared to what bodybuilding humans eat. But having said that, their arms aren't any bigger than some humans out there. There are some pretty big humans.

So what gives? Why are they so strong? Some humans have more muscle mass for their size than these chimps do, yet chimps are still much, much stronger for their size. Is there something different about their muscles? If so, what?

Chimps specialize in living in the tree tops. They need that muscle to avoid predators.

And what would that accomplish? You'd only be killing an animal for attacking something it saw as a direct threat, which is what all instinctive animals would do, including you and me.

And they're extremely strong because their muscles have more of an all or nothing fire response( similar to stories of when humans have to lift or tilt a vehicle to save thier child, or the story of a hiker being pinned under a very large slab of rock and hoisting it over his body before sliding off a cliff- resulting in major muscle tears). The trade-off is our muscles can handle more precise tasks like writing, throwing projectiles, manipulating tools.

Humans also have a weaker muscular structure so more resources can be devoted to our brains.A human that did a similar routine to a chimp all its life( or for some period of time comparable to a chimp) simply can not be as strong. Genetics daw
