LUBBOCK, Texas -- Texas Tech defensive back Anthony Hines was in satisfactory condition at a Lubbock hospital Monday, two days after his sister said he was stabbed in the abdomen during a fight at a night club.
Hines, who is vying for a starting role with the Red Raiders, was scheduled to begin preseason workouts Aug. 7.
Lubbock police Lt. Roy Bassett said Monday that dispatchers got three calls early Saturday morning from a club. One call indicated that the "whole club was rioting." On another call, security personnel at the club told dispatchers the situation was getting too big for them to handle and then on another call, dispatchers were told shots had been fired, Bassett said.
There is nothing in the department's computer records about a stabbing, but "it's certainly possible," he said.
An investigation into the incident will be conducted, Bassett said.   Â
