I always found it odd that the public seems to love this game and idolize it as one of the best racers ever... yet Gamespot gives it a 6.2? This is definitely a time when people SHOULDN't listen to reviews

He can't compare MK64, a product made 10 years ago, to something new like MKDS. That isn't fairRead

it was a classic game in my opinion, but i still recognize that it could use some improvements. i dont see myself downloading it, just for the fact that i dont need to play the game again like that, but there is a possibility that i could get it. GS does have some questionable review points, but i usually agree with them (although not entirely)
whoa....i'm away for a few days and this is the kind of stuff that crops up?? :P
the game is good, it is what it is - i mean this is getting outta hand - bashing old games. are the graphics on todays standards? no - you're a moron if you think it should be.
is mario kart for the DS a more improved version? yes...of course it is...you're a moron if you think it should be the other way around.
can't save ghost data? WTF???? did you bother to read the MANUAL?? it automatically saves this data.
$10 for a classic racer is still a good deal, i mean was anyone expecting a modern racer?? was anyone expecting anything more than what the game was when it was released?
maybe there's actually alot of ppl that sing the 'oh i play these old games all the time' song and they are just liars...including GS...otherwise they'd know what to expect long beforehand.....

Just because the ghost feature isn't available you think is should get that low a rating, that's kind of harsh, i mean 6-8, i would have given it an 7.5 or something
Well I owe an apology for being an arse in my post above regarding the ghost save - I thought that because I saw saved data...it saved ghost info as well.
That's what I get I guess.
Sorry if I offened anyone (regarding ghost data).
I myslef could care less about ghost data, it's nice to have - but I don't miss it.
What does GS have against Mario Kart? It's one of the better multiplayer games out there.Mop_it_upThey don't have anything against Mario Kart. They gave Mario Kart DS a 9.1. The reason it got a low score is because it has no ghost and it doesn't hold up to newer versions of Mario Kart or new games in general. They review VC games for what they are worth based upon today's standards. And Mario Kart didn't make the cut according to them. But if you disagree with the review go ahead and get the game.

Just because a game was popular it doesn't mean it was good. ;)I completely agree. When I think back on things MK64 was a great experience when I was a kid, because I didn't have standards and I didn't know what to expect.... I just wanted to have fun. Now I seem to analyze the games I play more, and I expect more for my money.
I used to play that game all the time and I loved it, but I was younger and I didn't come to expect much from a video game like I do now. However, now that I look back I see that Mario Kart simply did not have a lot of content. We have to think about both single player and multiplayer here. Not much to do in single player, but in multiplayer someone always had a good time. However, even your multiplayer options were limited, and so you can't honestly say that it was the best racer ever, or even close.
Of course, those are just my opinions. ;)
