okay, i just played the first three levels of Wei. it's not bad. of course i keep trying to dodge which is now switch weapon. so dodging has been removed from the game.
weapons have a star rating based on the character you're using. 1 thru 3 with 3 being extremely competent with a weapon and 1 being average competence. so Dun gets a 1 star for a fan and 3 stars for his sword. not hard to imagine.
the combat is pretty much the same as any previous version of the game so far. there seem to be some hidden and specialized combos for characters. sq, sq, tr, tr gives dun a special flame attack with his sword. but it doesn't work when he's wielding a spear.
normal mode seems to be REALLY easy. drops are like crazy.
the acting and writing are pretty typical so far. not bad, but still very anime.
and between battles you can talk to lots of characters that seem to respond very similar to a Final Fantasy game.
Lu Bu wasn't crazy powerful in our first encounter.
there seems to be some pretty interesting officer models for non-unique characters.
everyone seems to have a much more 'ruddy' look to their faces. not everyone appears to be smooth skinned and perfect.
i'll set aside some time tomorrow to give the game another go. i got killed in the third level by a ballista and a liutenant.
first two levels were Dun and the third was Cao Cao.
