On which book would you want to be sworn in?

Imagine that you have been elected into office and it's time to prepare for your swearing in ceremony. Many people use a book to swear in on. In the U.S, this book is often the Bible. I have wondered this question a lot recently and there is not one book of which I claim to be the foundation of my beliefs. What I would probably do is have a book written regarding my beliefs on philosophy and politics and I will affirm my oath of office, instead of swearing. This would upset many people, Dennis Prager being one, but so what? I will not lie and say I will uphold my office on the Bible. They may not be able to accept it, but the fact is that I would be lying to myself and the people I have affirmed to serve if I were to affirm on a Bible. If they want people to be unfaithful to their core principles, then so be it.

What book would you swear or affirm by? I'm curious as to some of your answers. I doubt anyone would say something like the On the Origin of Species or The God Delusion, nor do I doubt any atheists would swear on a religious document.

I would probably swear on the constitution and the ideas foundational to American life.

The Bible, I guess.  It's nothing more than political theater, anyway, so I don't think I'd sweat the details much. :P

I suppose if I absolutely had to, I'd swear on The Analects of Confucius. I respect his legacy and I think he was a very holy man.

I'll change that to "The Serpent's Gift." :3

The only thing on this planet that I could swear ideological fealty to would be the academic study of religion. As it is the only thing I hold to some degree "absolute" in my life.

In a courtroom, I would swear on a copy of The Communist Manifesto, for my own amusement (I'm not a communist, but the ensuring theater would amuse me.) More seriously, I would rather swear on no book, or perhaps a copy of the Magna Carta (but only if I had to.)

Do you swear to serve this country in the name of profanity and all sexual euphemisms ideal for use in the home and office?
