this is why to much gradation is a bad idea. who the **** can really quantify between a .5 of a difference. it arbitrary and pointless. a 5* system is a way better imo. as is actually reading the review.
I knew this would happen. No Venom = no 9.DragonfireXZ95
:lol:I am glad he's gone..I got beat by Venom every time I ran intohim in MVC2...And it even worst when my friend would pick him and beat me around the screen...
My goodness, relax. A bunch of review sites gave it a 8.5. Why is GS being scrutinized for it?mrmusicman247
Hey don't get me wrong I'm not bashing GS for giving it a 8.5.
Nope, 8.5 is still just 8.5.
Bigboi500
Actually one mans 8.5 is another mans 9..OR another mans 7.5...Scores mean nothing honestly..Seems gamesites are looking at different things now days when scoring. Especially games that are hyped up to no end.

I would say a 10 point system without decimals, as 5 is just too little I think. But I know what you mean.
I knew this would happen. No Venom = no 9.DragonfireXZ95The only reason this game is not waiting for me at home today. When and if they decide to reveal him as DLC, I'll bite. Until then, I can wait.
[QUOTE="Promised_Trini"]Yup, dead space 2, killzone 3. I agree.Dead Space 2 got a Metacritic score of 90 or 9.0 while Killzone 3 & MVC2 currently both have an 86 or 8.6. Are you just referring to ONE review?http://www.gamespot.com/ps3/action/marvelvscapcom3/review.html?tag=topslot;thumb;1

[QUOTE="jg4xchamp"]No. 8.5 is more like the new 7 with how easy it seems to be to get it. rolo107Yeah, it only takes millions of dollars, and years out of 100+ people's lives. That's a piece of cake! Exactly. Hell saying it's the new 7 might be generous. It's really the new 6 :]
I played it and Im not sure if I really even like it.... The sprites are way too big... they take up too much of the screen.. its fine in street fighter because of the slow pace of the game but in this my god.. they move too fast, I like cant even see wtf is happening. They moved even faster in the first two games but because they were so small I could keep a good track of everything happening on screen but this is just ridiculous.. Plus the jumping seems alot less epic..

That doesn't make sense. What is the difference between one star and the other? A good rating system must not have too few numbers but it must not have too many either. Gamespots 19 point system is okay.

Bad 1-2, Poor 3-4, Mediocre 5-6, Good 7-8, Great 9-10. :|
Even GS has a system like that. This makes me believe that the problem is not the system, the problem is the users.
When MVC 2 got reviewed by gamespot back on the dreamcast it got a 8.5 too so i look at it like if you like mvc 2 your probably going to like this one too. I mean ever since then all the other reviews for mvc2 were 7 or 7.5s at least look at this like an improvment.
Review scores mean nothing other than 1 persons opinion. There are so many game this gen scored higher or lower than they should have been it not even funny. All that matters is if you like the game.djsifer01This kind of logic sadly does not apply in SW. Its AAA or bust for them.
lol people caring about review score for a fighting game. Ace6301This. One of my favorite games of last yeat got a 6.0 here on GS (SMT Strange Journey) and I loved the heck out that game more than any AAA title released last year. Reviews are one persons opinion, and if that persons opinion overrides your enjoyment of a game then I pity you. Make up your own dang mind. The worst is when a reviewer out and out does not like the genre(or subgenre) of a game they are playing and it scores poorly.

1-2 is Abysmal, 2-3 is Terrible, 3-4 is Bad, 4-5 is Poor, 5-6 is Mediocre, 6-7 is Fair, 7-8 is Good, 8-9 is Great, 9-10 is Superb, and 10 is Prime. What is it with people thinking AAA scores are justified in the first place? It's pretty established that AAA scores have less to do with quality and more to do with marketing budget. Gaming companies base bonuses and whether a dev team will make future projects based on the review score. To think that reviewers are going to be honest and fair is hilarious and flied in the face of modern journalism (in all fields, not just gaming). What is it with people thinking that certain games are entitled to AAA scores?
