Commercially successful, but touting a pretty unprovocative overall game lineup for their market position.

I'm suprised at how well the Wii is selling cause it's really not THAT great. It has support and the most games but they feel and look lazy. They, r behind in graphics. The whole motion control was a good idea and I thought any genre would work but it's all just waggle. This is just my opinion though.

DS having the most AAAe, AAe, and Ae of all the consoles makes me think Nintendo did alright.

After 20 something years I switched to the PS3. When Nintendo goes HD I might switch back. I just can't stand the grafics of the wii. I need eye candy.

Wii is.. ughh.. lackluster for my taste in games (nintendo should just milk their awesome IPS more often IMO) and the DS seems to be doing well commercially and in terms of games.. so overall I guess a B-

Homerun for the DS. Flexible handheld at a good price with a great library. Doing well with the Wii. Great unique games and good control, but the library could be better.

they are going down, the Motion controlling isn't exclusive for them any more, they are a generation behind in the hardware, MS and Sony willintroduce their Next Genconsole at competitive prices for sure so Nintindo most likely will lose the price advantage as well, the kids who are using the Wii are gonna grow up, Nintindo should realize that, they need tocome up wz a good plan.

So, Nintendo is fine. :)

I applaud Nintendo for making games more appealing to the masses, but I think they've done this at the expense of gamers. The Gamecube is one of my favourite consoles, and I really enjoyed what Nintendo offered last gen...

They did the right thing, and they're expanding the market. Whole generations of kids are growing up using motion controlled gaming, Wiimote-style. When those kids turn into teens, they'll be looking for more age-appropriate content... ...controlled using the Wii Remote. I'd say they're in a pretty good position right now.

As for my own needs - I like the Wii. I've got over 60 games on it by now, and I've liked the majority of them.

I think that their choices have made them winners as far as sales success goes, but the very same choices have prevented them from being taken seriously by developers who seem almost more discouraged by motion controls and what to do with them than the cell. And of course, the lower end hardware. They'll profit more, but it cost them a lot of multiplats and perhaps even exclusives from developers who are excited to create visual experiences.

The DS and Wii have a good amount of games to offer, especially DS. So I for one am satisfied.

Although I am disappointed with the lack of Donkey Kong, F-Zero, Starfox, and Kirby on the Wii

After how things went last gen with the GC they HAD to do things differently. It worked out for Ninty big time and sets them up brilliantly for next gen with all the money they are making now.

Personally I like the Wii although I am a little disappointed with the Wii library overall. Even so third party support is better than last gen console wise.

Same thing here. The wii just keeps milking their biggest IP. No F-zero, Starfox etc. I got fed up after their last E3.

DS / Lite - great success, it is the handheld standard....DSI not so much... Adding SD card + taking away Gameboy Advanced Slot -

The Wii was groundbreaking, yes it lacked HD graphics but the system itself is good with some good first party games. More games should give you the option to use the Gamecube controllers / Classic controllers. It would solve alot of the problems then have had. The only other complaint I have is they really should have dropped another $50 into a better ATI card and had better graphics.

People on here can trash Nintendo all they want but they have made alot of money this generation.

They have failed to rival their last gen offerings so far and that kills me but the Wii console its slef is great IMO. Nintendo may have lost some of my respect and attention but they sure have made one great console IMO.

They did particularly well in the handheld department with the Nintendo DS. Not only are the sales unit for this handheld high, but also the gaming library is pure awesome with a variety selection that should fill anyone's gaming needs. As for the Nintendo Wii, they hit a grand slam with their sales figure, but only manage a single with their gaming selection in my opinion.

Perhaps it could be that not a lot of people want last gen graphics. The Ps2's graphics wasn't bad last gen however the Ps1's was and i won't have wanted to play games, last gen, with ps1 like graphics.

DS: Great hardware, great games. There's not much of a contest between this and the PSP.

Wii: Great hardware, thanks to the Wiimote and despite the lack of HD. On the flip side though, an underwhelming gaming library compared to the competition and their previous consoles.

The 360 is $199 just like the wii is now and the PS3 is $299. That's $50 more than the Wii used to cost. That's not overpriced.

Yet it's also the least selling console of the 6th generation after the Dreamcast. How's that encouraging to a company that's on the brink of irrelevant before developing the Wii?

We all know the PS3 Wand is a failure to begin with. And nobody even knows if Natal will even work.

They already have a good plan otherwise they wouldn't be sitting in cash right about now.

And this years line-up was great. I'm trying to finish up Muramasa: The Demon Blade.

I gotta agree with most on here. I think Nintendo is definitely doing great this gen and taking a big step in the right direction to further the future of gaming on a whole. Those complaining about the library should really look at the PS3 and 360 librarys. Sure they have more titles, but when u get down to it, many of the games themselves are similar. Multiple drivers, shooters, WW2 sims, etc. Basically you have 20 or 30 of the same game with a slightly different look and a different title. Most of the games in the Wiis smaller library are all different. Yes there are some issues with the motion controls in some games, but honestly, what do you expect? Its still a pretty new technology at this point. Yes it was sort of done before with the Power Glove, but nothing like the Wiimote. The PS3s current controller doesn't even come close to comparing. Has anyone here tried playing Lair with that thing? UGH!! I threw the game down in disgust. Granted I have a PS3 and like both consoles and what they offer, but I think Nintendo is the one thats really pushing the envelope. Give the first party titles time. Look at the Gamecube. It was quite some time after launch before most of their big first party games hit the shelves. By taking their time in development they are ensuring that when the games do finally come, they will live up to every expectation and be awesome!

As a Nintendo fan since the N64 and GBC, this is going down as my favorite gen for Nintendo, they've done a great job with DS and Wii games. I've already bought more games for DS than I have any other Nintendo system. And Wii is picking up fast with 09 which was Wii's best year imo, although that was mostly thanks to 3rd parties.

Pathetic. Demoralizing. Embarrassing. I have only bought one Wii game in the past year, while over that same period of time I have bought more than 20 games on the 360, PS3, DS, and PS2. I am a gamer that demands high-quality games and the Wii has failed me ever since Mario Kart was released.

In their defense, at least the DS is still a good system.
