XSeX to Cost $900 per Pringles Contest

Ok guys... take with a massive grain of salt as I saw this randomly. I've never even seen this site before. I didn't see it here and with all the mass speculation, I thought I would toss this into the ring.

If this were to be true, then that means PS5 could also be much higher in cost than we're thinking and God help us at that point. Hoping they got their math wrong somehow.

If this were to be the price of an XSeX, would you still buy it if you're already planning too or would that be a deal breaking price? I wouldn't personally buy any gaming system for that much, but that's me.

Never take a 1:1 currency conversion to estimate the price. Far too many variables to account for. They're using market-price which is not what you pay when converting currency.

Falls in line with the recent price hike of XBL to $100 per year.

Placeholder, but yet concerning none the less since it wasn't set at something a little lower meaning they weren't sure.. Still likely either $499 or $599, but that is crazy either way.

Well that would certainly explain why MS has been guarding the price so far. Sheesh. Nobody would buy an Xbox for that much.

It's not how the market works. I worked with currency for nigh-on a decade. They just had another supposed "price reveal" based on an exchange rate a month or so ago, and IIRC it was wildly different. There was a thread posted.

It's not that it is not gonna happen, as companies dictate price, but don't use market rates to confirm the cost country-to-country.

Would explain why MS and Sony don't want to say their prices. Sticker shock incoming.

And how would $900 even make sense, tho? We have the 3000's series incoming, the specs are tight and the price is decent for the first time in a long while. Is MS trying to convert all their fans into hermits? Now just imagine if Sony is also charging the same amount lol. 9.2tflops with a meh cpu for $900!!! Imagine that. I would skip that damn thing EVEN if Demon's Souls is a launch title and GOW2 coming out in 2021. F9ck that.

If the Xbox was $900 they would be shooting themselves in the foot and they would be hedging all bets on the S model. It's pointless having the most powerful system if it's out of the price range of many potential customers.

Yes they are. The answer to whether MS is trying to turn everyone into PC gamers. They have their hand in the cookie jar on both sides and make more on the PC side of things, so why not try to consolidate it all?

I'm will to pay $600 for either console, but I doubt they are that high. If they are then no biggie though.

I would. I like games and pc gaming doesn't interest me.

I wouldn't read too much into the price from a contest and what like someone else has said straight exchange rates do not work for translating prices

Definitely a dealbreaker. I was considering a switch to XSX this gen, but at that price I wouldn't buy either console.

@fedor: yep. Both systems will be expensive. Been thinking 599 will be the price for a while now based on the hardware they are carrying.

It won't be THAT much. LOL! MS may as well pack it in and bail on consoles if they think this will sell to a general audience of casual gamers.

Only gamers that have alot of disposable income, especially those who work in the IT business. The rest of us (myself included) who do not have that much disposable income or work in non-professional jobs will avoid paying $599 for a console.
