If you haven't seen it yet you can now stream your Xbox One games directly to your Windows 10 devices, laptops, tablets, whatever, anything you may have Windows 10 on. I haven't made the push to 10 yet, waiting for the retail release but this is a big deal for the Xbox One and usability in the home. I love the idea that a family member can be using the console for another function like watching HBO GO or Netflix and I can play a game on my PC from the console in the other room uninterrupted, this is fantastic.

Pretty cool really. Do you need XBL to do it?

I'd test it out of curiosity but I have a separate gaming room, thankfully. Anyway I do hope they'd make split screen casting for multiplayer games that'd let you play one game on Xbone as if it was split screen but it'd show only your screen on console and second part of the screen on laptop - without splitting the images on any screen.

I don't know, I was actually hoping someone here has Windows 10 and an Xbox One could test it, I don't see why you would need it for something like this, it's running through your home network, not theirs.

10 is available?

If anyone tests it out, see how it does over wifi. Not holding my breath, just curious.

The retail build goes live on the 29th, however the last beta build is essentially the retail experience so some may have it.

Yeah I wouldn't think it'd require XBL as you say. I'm upgrading to Windows 10 when it releases (assuming it's not broken), no Xbox though otherwise I'd test it out. Would be interested in hearing how well it tests though if someone on SW can do it.

That's cool I guess. I want to play my games on my TV though so it wouldn't be of much interest to me. However...that said I am curious how Windows 10 works on the PC. I plan on holding off to install until I see if it works well at launch.

It's a stream right so whatever your Xbox One is doing you can stream to a PC, right.

I didn't see in the video or haven't heard any info on it multitasking like TC says someone watching a netfix type app while you play games on a PC else where. Is there any more info on that??

It's not something available right now but they talked about it for down the line, so I assume it's going to be integrated at some point. For now though it free's up the TV which is nice, I can play Xbox One on my PC while my girlfriend plays the Wii U or the PlayStation 4, it gives you a lot of versatility.

@nyadc: ok i see I get what you are saying, which that is also kinda nice. But to have the Xbox one multitask would be a huge deal. That I couldn't see MS doing as they would lose sales cause people wouldn't need 2 or more Xbox ones, especially if you could play a game on the Xbox One then stream and play a totally different game else where. I could see them letting you stream and play a game though while someone is doing app stuff or watching TV, but as for games that would be a big no, at least I would assume.

I did see and liked someone's idea for split screen multiplayer that would utilize another device to do multiplayer so you wouldn't have that traditional split screen on one TV. One player on TV another to a PC that would be some awesome sauce

Cool feature. Though I'm assuming you'll need to be on a wired network for it to work properly making it pretty pointless for me.

given that its the Xbox Live Windows 10 app .... and requires you to have an xbox live on the xbox one to sync... I'm gonna go with "Yes ofcourse you need xbox live" .... why would you not?

It's like saying "I want to stream Steam around my house, do I need a steam account?" ....

Ok I'm trying out the steaming right now with the latest Win10 preview build, its exactly how they show it on the advertisement videos, two builds ago I was having audio issues on the pc end but now its perfect, no issues, nice stream, the littlest bit of input lag, nothing to make any issues. You have to use an Xbox One contoller.

The stream over Cat6 cable is using all the bandwidth I have, over wifi it uses approximately 1/3rd of my bandwidth, so its not recommended over wifi, at least in my tests.

Ok, pressing ESC on the keyboard stops the stream, to get back into it, its as simple as pressing the "Stream" option in the Xbox app. Oh and I'm using Halo 2 from the MCC as a test.

Tormy is jealous because the only way you can do this with a PS4 is to buy an unsupported expensive handheld.

@sailor232: That make sense from a tech wise perspective. You wouldn't happen to know if they are going to all the reverse and stream WIndows 10 to Xbox One? Now that would be great for me any way.

And since it is android it is already mod to run on other devices to...

But again that is not redundancy, streaming your xbox one to PC use 3 devices when you can do that with 2,same with HDMI in is a redundant feature..

right.. but to get that on a tv you either use an android usb stick (or specific android smart tv) or a phone/ablet ... which is still 3 devices.

I'm sure the Xbox live app will be updated to match... if microsoft decides to support it.

But your right, the feature isn't that impressive. They have mentioned possibly streaming PC which would be a bigger deal, but nothing special considering we can already do it with steam.

I havn't tested it with my router tbh. I run wired through the mains, then have a Switch behind the TV that connects my Smart TV / Xbox One / PS4 / Wii U and one that goes to my PC. So my entire network except my laptop/tablets is wired.
