Haha looks like they're trying to prevent another RRoD fiasco. MS' consoles are known to have a short lifespan.

I love the new design. If the price is acceptable I will pick one up as I've been considering buying an Xbone for a while now. I won't be at all concerned about the Scorpio until it actually exists. Hopefully they will give some info on that.

Why do people the price will be much different from the current price? It's just a new design, with practically the same internal hardware

@FastRobby: well, the price shouldn't be any more than $299 but who knows? I think it's the 2tb hard drive that gets people thinking it will cost more.

NerdLeaks is saying the Xbone S is $299.99. IF true I'll upgrade just for the extra TB.

But they're charging $399 for it here, I'm hoping that it is a placeholder price for now and they drop it to $299.

The $299 version does not come with a controller or the stand.

Edit: Welp I guess the $299 version does come with a controller it will be 500gb not 2TB. Idk too many confusing reports.

I like the design, but what is the point of owning an Xbone now?

Don't get it, they should have just released Scorpio sooner or cut the price more drastically on the XB1. No point in buying this now knowing that far more powerful consoles are coming within a year.

Same goes for PS4, really. I guess if PS4 doesn't come out with a "slim" model, that is a slight boot to the XB1. A console refresh always means a slight boost. But we've never seen a hardware refresh, and then an..." oh by the way, a much more powerful console is coming next year".

Slim redesigns usually are cheaper to manufacture, so likely releasing a slim model is more cost effective than having a price cut for original models and continue to manufacture the original models. I'm so tempted to get the Xbox One Slim for $299 since I use a 6TB external hard drive anyway, but I think I'll hold off for a year and get the Scorpio next holiday season. The Xbox One still gets all the games and features announced at E3.

I was thinking the same thing. Seems a little silly announcing this and then another console that makes the Slim redundant. Now im just going to wait longer before i consider getting an xbox
