So I just bought AC Unity for the Xbox One and holy shit do the updates and installs take forever, can see what GS meant when they said that the PS4 was faster.

Question to the people that have/had a 360 and PS3 last gen:
Would you say that the xbox one is kinda like the Ps3? And vice versa?
@killerfist: I don't have an Xbone, but my PS4 definitely reminds me of the 360. It's menus, store and interface are very slick, fast and intuitive. Even installs and updates (which I despise) are handled very quickly and gracefully, in the background as much as possible.
Sony did a fantastic job fixing all the issues PS3 had.
anyone who owns a ps4 or pc literally CANNOT deal with the xb1
the downloads are slow the game disc installs are slow

Yes
That play while you install thing is definitely a plus for PS4
and yes

Yes. God, yes.
Also, you can play your game while it's installing on Xbox One.

yeah the Xbone is supposed to do it, but it is so slow that you get to play the menu screen after 20 minutes.

The last video was on network speeds.
How long are we talking about here? Because it's totally vague, and most times the limiting factor isn't the console or the network but the users bandwidth itself, see all these threads of "it's been installing half a day and still blah blah blah", and in the end it's because of their abysmal bandwidth. I've a 50Mbps bandwidth which is on the low end now locally as they're pushing 200/300Mbps packages between competing internet service providers. Anyhow, I timed two of my last downloads at 19GB at 1 hour, at 42Mbps, and another at the same speed at 37GB taking two hours. And that's just speeds likely limited by my bandwidth and home network and not MS's Xbox One network. If I had a GS "Pipe" or whatever they called it giving them 1 Gigabit/sec download speeds I'm sure that'd go quicker, no Wolfenstein Old Blood in 5 minutes fast like for Steam but still faster than what I'd get.
Now, that's not fast but it's sure as shit not a slow network, and nothing like the horror stories I hear from people that seem made up. The Lobby video I call so much bullshit on since they say they're downloading Wolfenstein Old Blood in like 5 minutes on Steam (which I believe that), but saying they have a bandwidth to allow for that and yet their XBO downloads are all day affairs I call so much bullshit on. Even that made up "there was an error" in download thing I call bullshit on. I've done countless digital downloads over the last few months with my Xbox One and I've never received a notification like that. Everything downloads in background no hassle.
@locopatho@freedomfreak Thanks for your input.
That sucks. The slow ass install times is the only thing I despise about the PS3. Sucks to hear that the xbox one suffers from the same thing. One would think, in this day and age..
I'm kinda torn between the xbone and PS4..

i have 60 mbps connection and on xbone i was downloading as low as 10-15 with the ps4 i getting near 30-35 thats almost twice as fast
i tried wifi and ethernet for xbox one to improve its speed nothing works the system is handicapped or throttled on microsoft end or the system just cannot handle the ps4's speed i dunno which it is maybe microsoft wants to tell us about it i dunno why they're not talking about it
i had to leave halo mcc downloading a whole night and couldn't use the xbox one for any game during the downloads. They did not let us pre download before it released microsoft has no idea what they're doing,
I popped in bloodborne disc and was playing within 10 mins installed from disc and the update
on xb1 i popped in dead rising game took forever to install and the dlc updates an everything took over 1 hour FOR A DISC game im sick of it you tell me that everything is fine when i have both and i can see clearly that nothing is fine here its disgusting how long i wait on xb1 installs digital and disc are 2-3x slower then xb1 and largely noticeable its largely different experiences
There's a reason people on twitch hate playing on xb1 there's a reason microsoft was paying people to play the games on xb1 its because of dealing with all this crap with it
Microsoft has said they're all about the updates so why the f has they not updated the download speeds or the disc installs instead of fluff crap they update stuff we don't even care about, i haven't seen a single change to the speed of the services offered by msft the updates haven't done anything in that area.
honestly, i've never even noticed. when i install something i usually go play or watch something else. i did notice that it takes way longer if you try and install the game and update at the same time.
It does take a good amount of time. updates aren't as long as PS3 last gen though, thankfully
@Chutebox: Uh what?
The PS3 ones were done in 10 mins max.
Lol no. PS3 was terrible with updates. And no, it wasn't my internet connection.
Yeah 100% with you, Uncharted 2 once took over 20 minutes to update, while Halo on the same connection would take 1 or 2 minutes.
@davem1992: You are allowed but you're just rehashing the same info everyone already knows since the launch of the consoles.

lol no, I was using it just yesterday and it was fine.
I had to install a 2GB patch for GTA5 the other day on PS3. Took like an hour and half.

Yes, that sucks big time, but I wouldn't know as I don't own an xbox one.
The reason I quoted you was because of your claim that the PS3 installs/updates weren't horrible while it certainly is.

do yourself a favor just get the ps4 or pc
microsoft has had 2 years to make the disks install as fast as ps4 or download as fast as the ps4 games from digital stores
they haven't improved anything on that front from what i can tell
ps4 has been letting you play games while u download this whole entire time same with steam or any pc game

I was never really a PC gamer, so that will not change.
I'm kinda torn between the xbone and ps4, and this slow install times for xbox what I'm hearing from everyone is certainly not doing the thing any favors. But I guess that's someting they could still patch(with a 24hr update lol)?
I'm going to wait untill after this years e3 for my decission..maybe one of the two is going to announce a pricedrop or something.
With today's game sizes, I download ahead of time or preorder days ahead.
A little thinking goes a long way.
Also whats funny about the xbox one is it lets you play the game when its partially downloaded
Typical Xbone scenario
Xbone gamer says "oh sweet I can play my game at 30%"
Xbone gamer enters the game plays first 2 levels
Xbone gamer gets kicked out of game
Xbone gamer has to redownload the rest of the game to play further (see why this function doesn't make sense if its not continually downloading the game)
you basically lose time downloading by playing it early i think phil spencer and the xbone team might be completely clueless and not even gamers at all
I have both and I notice no difference between the download speeds. I should compare the two some day. What I do know, is yesterday when I got on the PS4 to download the wolf among us, it took 15 mins to go from checkout to the pay options. I guess that's part because of PSN being down before, but they said it was back on when I was on. It was slow as Hell. Every time I get on PS4 something goes wrong or it's slow. I completely disagree with loco about the UI being slick and fast. I've had a much more negative experience.

Part of that was MS had a patch size limit, so developers actually had to fix issues and print the disc instead of having larger patches after launch. I wish it was like that now still for both ps4 and XB1...

have you tried to open your achievements while you get unlock one in a game?
the xb1 gets slow as hell and takes in 5 minutes to open the achievements up and its laggy
why does it pop up with achievements in game if it cant handle looking at them

Wow that is the dumbest insult I've seen yet, I literally bought the game today so how was I to know that the download speed is total ass?
Oh wait, I remembered when I used my Xbox One more, I just cared less.
