Xbox Full Convergence

I'm still leaning toward Xbox not releasing a new console next gen and the graph above seems to be more evidence of that.

As you can see, the Xbox brand was born from standalone hardware & software. I remember reading that when Xbox was created, it came with a promise to Bill Gates that any tech that came from its development would eventually make it to PC and that the consoles would become obsolete.

I think we're at the final stages of that and Full Convergence will be the elimination of the traditional Xbox Console in exchange for a lite gaming PC that's cloud connected. Thinking the Chromebook of gaming.

Are chromebooks and intel atom still a thing?

I mean once COVID hit everyone needed a laptop, there was nobody working from home on a Chromebook or intel atom device.

I’m sad to say this, but the rise and fall of the Xbox is in the early days now.

2028 the anti-console will be is upon us and it’s up to Sony and Nintendo to save us from armageddon.

Unfortunately, Chromebooks are still a thing. My kid's school uses them sometimes over standard windows laptops and he hates them. I think the newer ones use Celerons now.

Jim Ryan is a slime ball 100% of the time. Phil plays a convincing “good guy” on camera which is where they’re different. But what Phil is saying in these emails has got to be ripping out the hearts of the Lems. Phil sounds like a Cow in disguise, trying to tear down the brand from the top… Phil has now said multiple times that they need to focus on and grow PC/mobile substantially or they are out of the business. If off-console doesn't take off, then they want to end their gaming presence completely?

I feel like the console market segment is its own thing, and they would struggle to transfer console gamers to PC gaming, just like you can't get herms to convert to console.

The idea that they want "full convergence" seems like they will be trying some kind of one size fits all approach, and I don't think that will work. Instead of pleasing everyone, they might end up alienating everyone.

It actually sounds like they are planning on releasing even further generations out, which is what Phil has stated as well. Great news for gamers. Xbox gamers that is.

I'm leaning toward Playstation/Nintendo products in the future.

What's so bad about Chromebooks? My kids use them at school, and they seem fine as a low priced computer for basic tasks. I wouldn't buy one myself, but if someone just wants to do internet and word processing, it works.

Anyway...

One thing they could be working on based on these leaks is a gaming OS that can be installed on or run on multiple devices. Without dependence on hardware, they could license this Xbox OS to other hardware manufacturers while still offering content for all devices running the OS and beyond.
