Wow, Mario Galaxy is leading in the preliminaries

This, is quite a surprise. Mario Galaxy is leading in the Gamespot Best of 2007 preliminaries by having 511 votes. Halo 3, on the other hand, has only a little more than three-fifths: 363 votes. Dunno about you guys, but I was sure that Halo 3 would be leading by several thousand. Wonder how this will turn out.

If you've been paying attention to SW, it shouldn't be a surprise.

Anyways, SMG definitely deserves it. It's definitely the best game this year.

Well, just for a new flash, mario is actually losing gound now. Its now 19% of votes to 15% of votes for Halo 3.

I think this actaully might get interesting. I dont own Mario,butlove Halo, but I'm actually rooting for Mario to win because the wii's has been getting so much crap from gamers and its about time that they get some recognition that they deserve (especially after my 360 died a week ago).

if this actually counted for GOTY, there is no way plenty of smaller, less known games (GTR2, Okami....etc) would have been nominated for anything.

IF this was actually for GOTY, than there is no way, plenty of winners would have gone it....

can you imagine Grim Fandigo, a game which very few people have ever heard of, getting GOTY in a year full of huge, high quality games (Starcraft and Half Life) by votes????

yea i think that starcraft and half life both might have edged it out but it is too bad more poeple didnt play grim because it was truly amazing

This world is ruined.

A game that the whole family could enjoy and the kids don't even pay attention to it.

There are better games than Super Mario Galaxy. It was good, but after you beat it...you just use the disc as a frisbee. But I agree with one of the posts on here. The 360 owners have so many different games-Bioshock, Call of Duty 4, Mass Effect, Assassins Creed-while all of the Wii owners have...Super Mario Galaxy. So that probably sums up why SMG will win. Plus there are just to many games on that list. It should be the 2 highest rated from each system...or something.jfkunrendered

Sure, the first 60 stars aren't a hard or really long task, but those last 60 aren't cake, at all. You could say the same for Bioshock, because once you're done with it, you're done with it. Not to take anything away from Bioshock, its one of my favorites for the year.

while i would have preferred a few other games over smg, i support anything that beats out halo. halo is teh suxor
