Do you guys think Wii will be affected by the high profile releases like GTAIV and Halo 3 (which will command total media attention) or will the sales boom even further?

I personally think this Christmas will be very interesting...I can see the PS3 starting to do well considering it's finally going to get some highly anticipated releases (Haze, Uncharted, GTAIV, Heavenly Sword etc) and I'm sure the 360 will do great with Halo 3 and GTAIV (I think it's a safe bet that 360 will lead in total software sales)...

But as for hardware sales, I think Wii may remain on top since GTAIV/Halo 3 aren't the type of games most Wii owners seem to be interested in.

What do you guys think?

GTAIV and Halo 3 will only have the gaming media's attention. Wii is selling to the casual and non-gamer, they aren't going to see any of that unless they are specifically planning to buy those two games.

For every casual that buys a Wii, another will be buying a copy of Halo 3, and another will be buying a copy of GTAIV.

No offence but people are lieing to themselves if they think the release of Halo3 and GTA4 would cause sales of the Wii to drop dramatically.

But all of us could keep on wishing (including myself).

Wii is attracting non-gamers as well. Which those 2 don't.

No.

Reason: Those games come out in the holiday season. ALL of the consoles will see a HEAVY increase in sales. Just like they always do.

The better question: Will PS3 and 360 sales be higher than Wiis sales when those games are released. I honestly do not know.

There are too many unknowns. If ps3 gets a price drop of 200, like the rumors suggest, I see PS3 selling the most.

If sony comes out with a retrofitted motion sensing PS2, and markets it the right way. They could steal a lot of sales from nintendo. There are a bunch of other factors too.

Nintendo Wii will sell out no matter how many the factories crank out. The only people keepingWii from passing the 360 this holiday is Nintendo. Eventually it will outsell both competitors combined.

With a "Mario" yes a Mario game and Super Smash Brothers game coming out I highly doubt it. Mario freaking sells like hot cakes. Well except that disaster known as Sunshine.

I doubt those games are really appealing to Wii's core audience.

Honestly no. I really don't see anyone walking into a store at any given moment and picking up a Wii until 2008 earliest.

Imo if the Wii sales do drop, I believe it will be for different and a more troublesome reason then those titles. However, the 360 and PS3 sales will definitely rise.

I think the Wii may get more in the way of its competition then the contrary, mostly because of its hardcore based games. But unlike the competition, it always has its wider range in the market to fall back on.

Wii sales will be unaffected by that. The typical person buying a wii right now are those who have not gamed before or who are into casual gaming. Games like GTA 4 or Halo 3 will not interest the majority of those people.
