Will powerful console VR allow swords?

My friends: I'm currently playing "Final Fantasy" "A Realm Reborn". Due to not being able to walk properly, I have trouble fishing. This game allows the player to effectively play the entire game as a merchant rather than purely focus on crafting. In many ways, it is vastly superior to Worlds Of Warcrafts. It's a kind game, with a kind hart.

However, a caveat, (a big caveat), the combat, regardless of how powerful the Playstation consoles have become, feels disconnected button tapping. MMO's, regardless of technology, don't seem to have evolved.

With VR technologies like Morphine and Valves Hive thing will it be possible to wield a plastic sword IRL and have it operate in the MMO world?

That's exactly how VR gaming should be like.

But we won't have technology that advanced for at least another 50 years.

yeah of course you already have sword games on the wii. With perfect motion control.

Sword fightting, boxing, melee combat will probably be what makes vr so succesfull because you can play it withouth having a omnidirection threadmill. You can change your room into a boxing ring (or a ring of deat, arena, whatever)

Because moving with a stick and fighting doesn't work very well.

For fps games you need omnitreadmill, or a railshooter or you have to move with a stick, but trust me that's goign to suck.

Careful with that thing, you might chop off something you don't want to lose. ;)
